7871_10200161245141853_1117645869_nMycal “Derz” Anders, MS, CSCS - A competitive athlete his entire life, Derz played football at both the Air Force Academy and Texas A&M – Commerce.  He fell in love with fitness in college while working in the offseason at the Academy. He was fortunate enough to initially develop his knowledge from Allen Hedrick, M.A., CSCS*D, the head strength and conditioning coach at both the Olympic Training Center and the Air Force Academy.

He continued his education at Texas A&M – Commerce under Dr. Ken Alford, PhD. In 2006, Mycal graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Human Performance, Kinesiology. Upon the completion of his collegiate career, his focus was shifted to bodybuilding where he placed in the top five of each competition, winning two classes along the way. As an Officer of Marines, he spent time developing remedial fitness programs for the Marines in various units boosting performance in annual Physical Fitness Tests by more than 25%. In 2009 and 2011 he developed offseason strength and conditioning programs for the Gila Ridge High School Football team, helping them reach the 2011 Arizona State Playoffs for the first time in school history.  This programing helped a number of players move on to play at the college level. Mycal now regularly competes locally and regionally in CrossFit competitions.

With a Master’s of Science in Exercise and Wellness (Arizona State), backed by Bachelor’s of Science in Health and Human Performance (TAMU-Commerce),  Mycal has dedicated his life to applying his education to fitness and performance training. According to his peers and clients, Mycal is one of the best performance coaches in Arizona.

Certifications – CERTIFIED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SPECIALIST (CSCS) – AFAA, Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT) – CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) Trainer/Strongman Certified – Trixter certified X-Bike instructor.

Derz’ Blog

935557_10200956640306235_1066589508_nThatcher Taylor – Began playing sports at an early age and excelled in high school. A four sport athlete, he was recognized as one of the best athletes in the state of Montana for football, basketball, track and baseball. Before turning to CrossFit as his new sport, he was a division 1 football player at Southern Utah University. Thatcher’s coaching career began immediately after graduating as he held the position of Strength and Conditioning Coach at SUU for the entire sports program. He now operates a branch of Edward Jones and loves helping people strive to meet their fitness goals as a coach at CrossFit PHX.

1795475_627329557343981_6416510756911490235_nLaura Boyd – Athletic and competitive her entire life, she has played many sports from a young age, and played in competitive leagues throughout high school. She enjoyed playing soccer in college as well. Laura graduated from Kansas State University with a major in Public Relations with a minor in Leadership Studies.
Laura has always been passionate about training, but when she found Crossfit in early 2012 she instantly found a passion for the sport. This led her to get her Crossfit Level-1 certification so she could share her passion with others. She takes pride in studying fitness and training methodology to learn more and become a more effective coach for our athletes at CF PHX. Laura’s competitive spirit helps her push her athletes to the next level. As a coach she prides herself in setting the example though clean living and intense training, keeping athletes motivated to constantly perform and push themselves and have fun along the way.

After his athletic career ended he was searching for an outlet for his competitive side. He decided to give CrossFit a shot and after his first workout he was hooked. After two years of collegiate basketball Caleb transferred to Arizona State University to pursue his interest in strength and conditioning.  Caleb graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise and Wellness.  Caleb continued his education with an internship under Mycal Anders at CrossFit PHX.  Caleb strives to be a better coach with his consistent desire to learn. He wants to push you to your limits and help you achieve goals you thought were out of reach.

Jinger Parson has 30 years experience in the Fitness Industry. Her strong background in competitive dance and cheer combined with competitive sports like volleyball and cycling allow her to bring both grace and power to her workouts.

Jinger has trained and coached athletes from all walks of life, sports and age groups and believes there is an inner athlete in all of us.   Her focus is on flexibility and strength which allows longevity in any modality of exercise her clients are involved in. Injury prevention is at the forefront of every workout. Her Restorative Mobility protocol helps athletes not only increase strength through a full range of motion, but also assists in the recovery process as well.

Certifications: ACE certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor – Stott Pilates: Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Barrel and Chair – LeMond Indoor Cycling – Keiser Indoor Cycling – Yoga Alliance member

Dr. Michael A. AndreulaDr. Michael A. Andreula (Dr. Mike) received his doctorate of Chiropractic in 2013 from Parker University in Dallas, Texas. He completed his undergraduate studies at Arizona State where he received a Bachelor of Business Management and Minor in Religious Studies. While working towards his doctorate at Parker University he also obtained two additional Bachelors, one in Science and Anatomy and other in Wellness, adding to his extensive knowledge of the human body and its physiology.He is a highly trained professional who blends traditional and diversified Chiropractic treatments and services with extensive knowledge of Bio-mechanics to offer patients the best in individualized care.  His mission is to provide the highest quality, individualized treatment that yields the fastest results. Period! He has extensive knowledge and combined experience working with PGA players, MLB and NHL athletes. Providing them with the most comprehensive and integrative approach to evaluating, treating and rehabilitating from injuries.
